City Council

Elections for the position of Mayor and 2 Council seats will be held November 8, 2011. Polling place is Dover City Hall, 699 Lakeshore Ave.

The government of the City of Dover, Idaho is a Council-Mayor form of government. The Mayor is responsible for the Administration of the city, while the Council is responsible for the legislative branch . The Council is made up of 4 members serving 4 year terms and elected on a biannual rotation. The Mayor position is elected every 4 years.

Mayor - Paul "Randy" Curless, elected 11/95, re-elected 11/99, 11/2003, 11/2007

The Mayor is considered the official representative of the City. The Mayor presides over the council and votes only in the case of a tie. He serves as the head of the city government for civil processes, ceremonial functions and military purposes should the need arise. The Mayor is responsible for submitting the city's budget to the council each year and for making appointments to various boards and commissions established by the council. The mayor also appoints several of the key staff positions for the city, subject to approval of council.

The Council enacts laws and ordinances, establishes policies and levels of service, adopts the budget, sets the tax rate and establishes fees for services.
